Hull & Humber skipper to be medevaced after breaking leg in the Clipper 09-10 Ro
|
Piers Dudin, 31, skipper of Hull & Humber, one of ten entries competing
in the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race, has sustained an open
fracture to his right leg after a fall on the tenth day of the race from
Qingdao, China, to San Francisco, USA. The incident was immediately
reported to Falmouth Coastguard and is now in the hands of the Japanese
Coastguard who are co-ordinating the medical evacuation of the
Salisbury-based skipper. The skipper's next of kin have been informed
and Piers is reported to be in good spirits.

Liberia pays its 2010 contribution to IMO budget
|
His Excellency Mr. Wesley M. Johnson, Ambassador of Liberia to the
United Kingdom presented today (10 March 2010) a cheque for
£2,457,663.65 to the Secretary-General of IMO, to settle in full the
assessed budget contribution to the International Maritime Organization
(IMO) of the Government of Liberia for 2010.

In breathtaking style the giant A100 Trimaran 'Majan' shot across
the Cape Town start line of the third leg of the Indian Ocean 5
Capes Race just off Table Bay harbour's breakwater at exactly
midday (12:00 Local time) today to track a course down south to
the treacherous seas of the Southern Ocean for her next stop in
Fremantle, Australia.

The Pacific is throwing her full weight at the Clipper 09-10 fleet and
the last 24 hours have been tough. Now the winds have moved behind the
fleet they are making fast progress towards their goal of San Francisco
and they should continue to do so for the next few days.

Rolex China Sea Race 2010 leads off the spring Asian racing calendar
|
With the start of the Rolex China Sea Race just three weeks away, a competitive
fleet is lining up for this 565-nautical mile Asian offshore classic. To date,
29 boats are registered, with several more anticipated to enter the race, which
starts on Thursday, April 1 in Hong Kong and finishes in Subic Bay, northwest of
Manila, the Philippines.

Saudi Arabia signs Djibouti anti-piracy Code
|
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today (10 March 2010) signed the Code of
Conduct on the Suppression of Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in
the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden (Djibouti Code of
Conduct), becoming the 13th country to do so.
